your cut flower care guide

keep them hydrated 💧

1

tips for getting the longest “vase life” - the amount of time flowers stay looking fresh in their vase.

flowers are like fish, things get funky if they’re out of water for too long. bring your blooms straight home and into water or if you can bring a mason jar to keep the in water on a long drive.

Once you get them in a vase change the water every day or two.

keep them clean 🧼

2

wash your vases and vessels very well. This will reduce the chance of bacteria funking up your blooms.

keep them trimmed ✂️

3

once you’ve got your cleaned vessel, add your water, and trim your flowers to your desired height.

And here’s the important part — remove any leaves that would fall under the water line! This prevents funky bacteria funking things up.

keep them cool 🆒

4

Place them out in a cool spot, out of direct sunlight in your home!

AND I said “COOL” NOT “COLD”. Your fridge is likely too cold for the flowers and other foods will give off gasses that will make them wilt quicker!

but to be honest with ya

I don’t always do all this all time and still end up with blooms lasting way longer than their expected vase life.

But as a yoga teacher, I’ve learned some subtle secrets to longevity.

Adriana’s Subtle secrets to longer blooms

appreciate them, admire them, hype them up 🙌🏾

1

In yoga, I often say ‘Energy goes towards where awareness flows’. Which is a flowery way to say, what we focus on grows. one way to get the most out of your blooms is to spend time with them, talk to them (they listen).

install an affirmation or intention with your flowers 🙏🏾

location location location 🌿

3

yes, out of the sun really really matters. AND also, what happens when you place your blooms (or even just one) somewhere you can see them first thing?

let the beauty of your blooms and the intention to install influence your morning — maybe even before your phone!?

LOCAL LOCAL LOCAL 🎯

4

this feels like a shameless plug and maybe it is! But It’s still true: local flowers, like ours, get to you faster than imported blooms which is 80% of the cut flowers in the use.

this means less time wasted in transport and more bloom time for you! Also, since they’re not sitting in storage, there’s no need for harmful, toxic preservatives, pesticides, and other nasties.

and remember

flowers are meant to remind of the cycles of life and living which often include dissolving, wilting, composting, and rebirth.

they’re not meant to last forever. and maybe, that fact can offer some lessons to use on letting go or seeking the beauty stages of this wild ride of life.
